Vet SOS serves pet owners who are experiencing homelessness and who live in San Francisco. We operate twice monthly pop-up veterinary clinics. Visits are by appointment only. We provide weekly curbside delivery of free pet food and supplies in the Mission (by appointment). We also offer telemedicine (phone visits) and medication refills for current clients. EMERGENCIES
If you need urgent veterinary assistance between Vet SOS clinics, please contact your nearest veterinary clinic. If you are currently unhoused, Pets of the Homeless may be able to provide financial assistance for pre-approved emergency visits. They can be reached at (775) 841-7463, Monday – Friday 9am-3pm PST.
Through a partnership with the SF SPCA, a veterinary hospital in San Francisco, current Vet SOS clients in good standing may be eligible to receive limited emergency care for their pets between Vet SOS clinic dates, only when all the following criteria are met:
Your pet is a dog or cat.
Your pet is spayed or neutered.
Your pet has attended a Vet SOS clinic within the last 12 months.
You have a current eligibility letter, signed by a local homeless service provider within the last 12 months, on file with Vet SOS.
If you qualify, you may call the SF SPCA at (415) 554-3030 in the event of a veterinary emergency. Please note that funds are limited and may not always be available.
